Three jailed over car key burglaries in Glastonbury

Three men have been jailed for their involvement in car key burglaries in Somerset, including incidents in Glastonbury.

Dylan Morgan, 23, of Dickenson Road, Weston-super-Mare, Thomas Maguire, 19, of Bristol Road, Tarnock, and George Ruja, 19, of Church Street, Highbridge, were sentenced at Taunton Crown Court on Friday, 14 August.

The charges related to reported incidents in Glastonbury, Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare between Monday, 16 March and Tuesday, 5 May.

Morgan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and driving while disqualified. He was sentenced to 45 months, with 18 months to be served in prison and the remainder on licence.

He was also disqualified from driving for four-and-a-half years.

Maguire pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and was sentenced to 30 months, with nine months to be served in prison and the remainder on licence.

Ruja also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and was sentenced to 30 months, with 12 months to be served in prison and the remainder on licence.

Neighbourhood Inspector Charmaine Dyne said: "We welcome the result of this investigation, and we're committed to taking robust action against offenders while working proactively to identify and disrupt criminality.

"We understand the profound personal impact burglary can have on victims. We have offered access to specialist support services to those affected, who have understandably been left distressed and feeling unsafe in their own homes.

"I'd urge people to continue to look out for each other in our communities by reporting any suspicious activity as it happens, this helps us understand the scale of an issue so we can invest the appropriate level of resources to tackle it."

Police said the victims affected by the burglaries had been offered access to specialist support services.
