Photos have emerged of the technically brilliant work involving Glastonbury fire crews who helped get a person out of a property and into a waiting ambulance.

Crews were called out to Windmill Hill Road in the town yesterday (April 10) following a request from the ambulance service to assist them removing a casualty from a loft space.

On arrival, crews confirmed that further assistance would be required due to the location of the casualty so requested the attendance of the Specialist Rescue Team from Bridgwater and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Yeovil.

Once all crews were in attendance, a plan was formulated along with the ambulance medics on the scene to move the injured person.

The casualty was placed on a special stretcher to enable the Special Rescue Team and the paramedics to extricate the casualty safely.Once all safety measures were in place, the casualty was then removed via the Velux window by the aerial ladder platform crew and conveyed to hospital by ambulance.

The combined work took several hours and was described by one eye witness as " Quite a feat and quite amazing to watch."
