A person initially unconscious after Glastonbury fire call out

The fire crew has been out again in Glastonbury today. (April 11).

The fire engine from was sent to Benedict Street location to reports of a smoke detector sounding.

On arrival, crews confirmed the alarm to be sounding and smoke could be seen coming from the property. A second fire engine was requested, this came from Street.

Crews forced entry into the property and confirmed this to be a fire involving the cooker, one occupant was rescued from the building, unconscious initially, but then once rescued regained consciousness but suffering with smoke inhalation. An ambulance was requested to attend for the casualty.

The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the property of smoke.

The pan was completely destroyed by fire and the room of origin was damaged by smoke.

Duty of care was left with the police.
