Giant duck to land in Glastonbury
By Laura Linham 1st Jul 2026
A giant inflatable duck is coming to Glastonbury this month, bringing selfies, prizes and the sort of town-centre spectacle that should fit right in.
The larger-than-life duck will appear near The George & Pilgrims Hotel on Tuesday, 21 July, from 11 am to 2 pm, as part of The Coaching Inn Group's "Wish You Were Here" Road Trip. Visitors will be able to take photos, win instant prizes and enter a competition for a year's worth of UK hotel breaks.
The free event is being hosted by The George & Pilgrims as part of The Coaching Inn Group's "Wish You Were Here" Road Trip. The summer campaign is encouraging people to explore more of the UK and visit characterful towns, villages and destinations.
The headline prize is 12 weekend dinner, bed and breakfast breaks at Coaching Inn Group hotels across England and Wales. Visitors on the day can also win giveaways including complimentary food and drink, overnight stays and vouchers for Coaching Inn Group hotels.
The event is expected to attract visitors from across the local area, with the giant duck offering a fairly hard-to-miss photo opportunity in the town.
Alun Griffiths, general manager of The George & Pilgrims, said: "We're delighted to be bringing the Wish You Were Here Road Trip to our town. This is all about celebrating summer, supporting local towns and giving people the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
"The giant duck is impossible to miss, and we're looking forward to welcoming local residents and visitors for what promises to be a fun day."
The Coaching Inn Group operates 43 historic inns across England and Wales and is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026. The group said its road trip campaign has been designed to encourage more people to embrace the Great British Staycation and explore destinations closer to home.
The group was recently recognised as a Which? Recommended Provider for Hotels, which it says reflects its commitment to quality hospitality and guest experience.
The Glastonbury event is free to attend and open to all.
