The Environment Agency has issued a Be Prepared flood alert this afternoon (November 22) for the Rivers Brue, Sheppey, Glastonbury Millstream and North and South Drains.

The agency believes there is a possibility of flooding for the B3151 Glastonbury to Meare Road. Overtopping is forecast from the Glastonbury Millstream and the River Brue at North Drain and Westhay.

A spokesman said: "Further rainfall is forecast today.

"We expect river levels to remain high while this current unsettled weather and heavy rain continues.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and have field teams on the ground clearing river screens and checking defences. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued."
