Fire crews successfully rescued a horse that had become stuck in a hedge in Butleigh yesterday (November 23).

Just after 11am yesterday, fire crews from Glastonbury and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater attended a horse that had got stuck in hedging, a dry ditch and barbed wire in Back Town, Butleigh.

Working initially with the owner to help calm the horse and then alongside a vet who sedated the animal, crews were able to effect a rescue using fire service specialist rescue lifting equipment and a telehandler kindly supplied by a local farmer.

Once out of the ditch and back on all fours, duty of care for the horse was then left with the owner and vet.
