Fairfield Montessori School in Glastonbury shines in Ofsed inspection
Fairfield Montessori School in Glastonbury was showered with praise in a recent assessment, citing its high-quality educational practices and child-friendly environment.
The evaluation, conducted on April 26, 2023, showcased the school's commitment to creating an enriching atmosphere for its young learners.
"Children receive a warm and friendly welcome when they arrive at this setting," noted the inspection report, adding that "They eagerly greet their friends and separate well from parents and carers."
On a typical day at Fairfield, children are greeted with a warm and friendly environment that makes them feel secure and encourages active engagement. It's a place where they look forward to joining their peers, jumping into a plethora of activities that stimulate their young minds. The secure and supportive environment ensures a smooth transition for children from their homes to the school setting, which parents appreciate, feeling well informed about their children's daily activities and development.
Children at the school are encouraged to explore, learn, and take risks in a safe environment. They build their strength and balance, engaging in activities like climbing and balancing on frames.
The school was acknowledged for its ample physical activities, with the report stating, "Children have plenty of opportunities to be physically active throughout the day."
The school's dedication to fostering creativity was commended. "Children build their imagination by playing in the mud kitchen or dressing up and role-playing," observed the inspection report. These activities also impart essential life skills, promoting sharing, taking turns, and kindness among the children.
Fairfield Montessori's team was praised for their thoughtful planning of educational experiences. "Staff plan the experiences carefully. They make learning fun, and children are highly motivated and engaged in the learning activities on offer," stated the report.
The report also singled out the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) for her dedication. "The setting's SENCo is passionate about her role. She is very knowledgeable about the children that attend who need extra support," the report pointed out.
However, the inspection also outlined areas for further improvement. "On occasion, staff choose activities that are too difficult for the children... some children struggle with the task and lose focus," the report observed, also noting that "transition times are not always organised effectively," suggesting children could be given more opportunities to practise independence skills.
In a statement, the school said they were 'proud' to have been given a good rating, thanking all the staff, parents and children for their hard work.
