The streets of Glastonbury are about to be taken over by the undead, and it's all for a good cause! The Glastonbury Zombie Walk 2023 is set to take place next Saturday, offering residents a chance to transform into zombies and raise money for Children's World charity.

Here's all you need to know about this bone-chilling event.

What is the Glastonbury Zombie Walk?

The annual Glastonbury Zombie Walk is more than just an outing for fans of "The Walking Dead"; it's a chance for the community to come together and support a charitable cause. Glastonbury High Street will be closed off, transforming into your own Zombieland.

When and where does it kick off?

The zombie apocalypse—well, not quite an apocalypse—takes place on October 28. The High Street will be closed from 3:00 p.m. to make way for the walking, or rather stumbling, dead. This year's gathering point is the King William Skittle Alley, where you can take your look from "I Am Legend" to "Day of the Dead" with face paints, fake blood, and rags.

Entertainment before the main event

Several local legends will grace the event before you "Train to Busan" for a walk at 5:00 p.m.. The line-up includes the Dragon Drummers, Glastonbury Border Morris, CW Youth Committee, Mark Foot, and Haggis McLeod. The walk will be formally kicked off by our Town Crier, who promises to be a bit livelier than your average zombie.

A cause to die for

This isn't just a "Dawn of the Dead" cosplay event; it's a fundraiser for Children's World charity. The charity uses drama, performances, and workshops to support disadvantaged children, making a real-world impact that would make even a zombie's cold heart warm.

What to expect

Apart from your fellow townspeople dressed up in their "undead" best, you can expect a sense of community spirit that's very much alive. Zombies of all ages are welcome, just remember to keep it family-friendly. You won't need to "Resident Evil" your way out of this one; it's all for good fun and a good cause.

How to get involved

People are urged to dress up as zombies, but if costume prep has you feeling like you're in "28 Weeks Later," just head to the King William for your transformation. This is a community event where everyone's invited, no auditions or callbacks, unlike in "Zombieland: Double Tap."

Final thoughts

Whether you're a seasoned zombie walker or this is your first time, the Glastonbury Zombie Walk promises a spooktacular event for all. So come along, it's going to be a scream!
