Crackdown on drug use and prostitution in Glastonbury town centre loo hotspots

Public toilets in Glastonbury are at the centre of a police crackdown after a surge in anti-social behaviour – including drug dealing, prostitution, and vandalism.
Cops say reports have flooded in from locals, shop owners, and patrol teams, pointing to illegal activity around conveniences across the town, with St John's Churchyard named as a particular trouble spot.
Officers say the toilets and surrounding areas are being used for drug use and dealing, while reports of sex work and verbal abuse have also been logged. Graffiti and vandalism have left facilities in a state of disrepair, adding to the sense of disorder.
Now, extra police patrols are being deployed, along with dispersal orders allowing officers to move people on for up to 48 hours. Stop and search powers are also in use to disrupt drug activity and prevent damage, and targeted arrests are being made against known offenders.
A police spokesperson said: "We understand the impact this kind of behaviour is having on the community and are using all available powers to tackle it. Our neighbourhood teams are out every day, patrolling hotspots, speaking to residents, and taking action where it's needed."
Community Protection Notices are also being issued to those repeatedly causing disruption, with police warning that further action will follow if the behaviour continues.
