A Glastonbury estate agent has said that, if you are looking to sell your home, now is a perfect time to put it on the market due to the Stamp Duty holiday creating competition for properties.

Mandy Kimber, of Heritage Estates in the High Street, told Glastonbury Nub News that, with the Stamp Duty holiday making homes more affordable, she is seeing a number of people being seriously interested in each home she has for sale.

Current Stamp Duty benefits finish at the end of this month where no Stamp Duty is paid up to £500,000.

The Chancellor has given a tapered extension until end of September 2021 on properties up to £250,000 not paying Stamp Duty.

Mandy said: "Now is a perfect time to sell due to the Stamp Duty holiday which ends in September making properties more affordable.

"Since lockdown ended, people are putting their money into property and are looking for a good deal, which means properties are selling very quickly."

She said that a good first step is to ask for a valuation appraisal, even if you are not sure you want to sell yet.

"It is perfectly OK to ask for a free valuation, as you are not committed to taking this offer up," she said.

"Of course, if you see a property you are interested in and are in a position to move, for example you have already sold, then you need to act fast as we are finding several people are after the same property.

"People are buying from outside the area who wish to leave the city life behind for a more peaceful existence.

"There is some local buyers but they are mainly from outside the area at present."
