Thanks to the fire crew from Glastonbury, a horse was successfully rescued yesterday (March 13) from a peat-filled ditch.

Fire officers joined the specialist rescue team from Bridgwater to get the horse, named Dave, out.

Dave is now safely back in his stable after what the fire crew dubbed: " His adventure."

The fire crews are often called in to assist these kind of incidents, with expertise and specialist equipment used to free anyone, or any horse, which is trapped.

On Friday (March 12) Glastonbury was one of three crews called to free someone trapped in a road traffic incident at Lydford on Fosse.

They were working with engines from Somerton and Castle Cary who managed to free someone from an overturned vehicle.

In that incident they released the casualty using stabilisation equipment and their hydraulic cutting equipment.

The crew from Glastonbury were last out to free a horse at Westhay on February 19.
