Children at St John's Infants School, and the Jumping John's nursery took to the streets of Glastonbury yesterday for their Easter Bonnet parade.
Children at the school and nursery had been working hard on creating their Easter hats - but still found time to do some colouring and enter the Co-op's colouring competition - winning a £50 voucher.
The Easter bonnet is any new or fancy hat worn by tradition as a Christian head-covering on Easter.
It represents the tail end of a tradition of wearing new clothes at Easter, in harmony with the renewal of the year and the promise of spiritual renewal and redemption.
On Thursday morning, they took to the High Street showing off their efforts on the way to St John's Church - led by headteacher Kerry Devane, who had dressed as the Easter bunny for the occasion.
The community came out in force to support the children, giving them a round of applause as they walked to the church, before joining them for the brightly coloured service.
The school will use the voucher to buy eggs and treats which will be handed out on the last day of term, for the children to enjoy over the Easter holidays.
