"Elsewhere" exhibition of work by Olga Pietruszka & Gemma Trickey

Elsewhere is an exhibition featuring the heavily stylised linocut prints of Core Artist Gemma Trickey and the dramatic yet serene paintings of fellow Core Artist Olga Pietruszka.

Both artists have easily recognisable yet differing styles, each drawing upon themes that are slightly ethereal and otherworldly with places and scenes from folklore and fantasy. Each artist's work has an almost dreamlike quality that allows the viewer's imagination to wonder.

Gemma is a Somerset based printmaker working mainly in linocut and woodcut on paper and textiles. Her work features wild and wonderful characters and creatures from folklore often relating to a timeless world of rituals and stories. She is inspired by the work of William Morris and Aubrey Beardsley.

Olga's work is inspired by cloud formations, she incorporates these forms into her brooding landscapes, seascapes, cloudscapes, mountain views and fjords. Working predominantly in acrylics, Olga's paintings have an expressive nature to them. Her pieces have a stillness to them whilst typically featuring a sky filled with foreboding. Her paintings allow the viewer to interpret a narrative and a feeling by conveying just the right amount of information on the canvas.

Both these artist's works are enjoyed best up close and in person where you can allow their wonderful artworks to take you on a journey with timeless places and characters.
