Torpoint held firm with 10 men in a nail-biting 2-2 draw against Shepton Mallet, who launched a spirited comeback but couldn't seal the deal.

Despite losing skipper Elliot Crawford to a red card after just 25 minutes for wrestling Shepton's Corey Stock to the ground, Torpoint still led 2-0 by halftime, leaving Shepton reeling.

Shepton struggled to find their rhythm early on. Torpoint's Kelvin Fyreboy struck first, slotting home a controversial penalty in the 42nd minute, much to the frustration of Shepton fans.

Moments later, Torpoint doubled their lead when Sam Hepworth rose above the defence to head in from a corner, sending Shepton into the break with a mountain to climb.

The second half saw a revitalised Shepton, led by Man of the Match Dylan Gould, who broke through Torpoint's defence with a dazzling solo run, finishing with a 20-yard screamer to pull one back. Gould then piled on the pressure with several more shots, forcing sharp saves from Torpoint keeper Ryan Rickard.

With 15 minutes left, Shepton's persistence paid off as Charlie Bateson pounced in a crowded box to slot home the equaliser, sparking wild celebrations. Substitutes Matt Morris and Iguana Crowe both came close to snatching a late winner, but Torpoint held on.

Shepton will look to build on this result in their midweek Somerset Premier Cup clash against Clevedon Town, and they're set to face Torpoint again on Saturday for another shot at three points.
