Shepton Mallet work hard for a 1–1 draw at Street
By Laura Linham 18th Sep 2025

Shepton Mallet were made to work hard for a 1–1 draw at Street on Tuesday night, with goalkeeper Owen Crawford earning Man of the Match after a string of vital saves.
Street dominated much of the first half and will feel frustrated not to have gone in ahead at the break. Freddie Haden squandered two golden chances, while Sam Stapleton also went close just before half-time. Crawford pulled off a stunning save on 37 minutes to deny Haden and keep Shepton in the game.
At the other end, Cam Allen and Peter Snell saw tame efforts comfortably saved by Street keeper Liam Kingston, and Allen was unlucky to see a corner deflect off the outside of the post.
Two minutes into the second half, Street made their pressure count. Stapleton found space six yards out to convert a low cross and give the home side the lead. Shepton responded through a Luke Wilkinson free-kick, before Allen again hit the post with a cross-shot ten minutes into the half.
Just after the hour mark, Allen's corner caused chaos in the Street box and Snell pounced on the loose ball to level the scores. Shepton pushed for a winner with Allen hitting the side netting, while former Mallet man Charlie Bateson twice tested Crawford at the other end.
With eight minutes left, Snell broke clear but fired wide under pressure from Kingston. Bateson had one last shot saved and Ivan Kurylshyn hit the side netting in stoppage time as both sides settled for a point.
Crawford took Man of the Match honours for his three key saves, with Will Banks impressing on his first appearance since the start of the season. Snell's goal takes his tally to eight in his last 12 matches.
