An estate agent in Glastonbury is calling for possible landlords to come forward as her business is experiencing a high demand for rental property.

Mandy Kimber, at Heritage Estates in Glastonbury High Street, says she has around 80 people who have expressed an interest to rent property and she is now looking for people to come forward to rent homes to these potential clients.

Mandy says she is particularly looking for one, two and three-bedroom flats and houses to let out, and she prides herself on client loyalty once they start working with her.

"A lot of my tenants have been with me for years, some coming up to double figures," she told Glastonbury Nub News.

"When we have rental properties come up on the market, we are averaging eight to 10 viewings per property and they are normally turned around within 10 days. We have a full set of well-trusted tradesman who are a great to work with as well.

"In terms of how much money a landlord can make renting out their property, it varies from the condition and location of the properties. In a nutshell, empty properties don't make much money.

"We offer either an introduction service where landlords manage the property themselves and we do the finding of the tenant and paperwork, etc, or they can go full managed where we do everything and the landlord is advised as the law is changing so often.

"We can then ensure they are up to date on the laws and also make sure they are getting the maximum for their property as well.

"Sadly, due the pandemic people are having to down size for financial reasons, some are selling, but also people from out of the area are snapping up properties as second homes.

"Accidental landlords - people who became a landlord by chance through inheritance for example - are now finding a single property is costly with all the new laws and therefore are selling.

"This has a knock on effect which means local rents are now higher then ever and the local market cannot afford them, but we are hoping to help with this, making a beneficial arrangement for both sides.

"We have many people looking for properties and this is not including our existing tenants who are maybe looking to downsize, etc, so if you might have a property available to rent, please get in touch."
