For those looking to reduce their energy bills, a move to a new home in Glastonbury could be just the ticket.

Boasting a host of energy efficient features, new homes at Avalon in Glastonbury are ideal for those looking to save money and reduce their impact on the environment.

Plus, changes to Stamp Duty mean there's the potential to enjoy lower moving costs.

Regional sales director Tracey Ball said: "Almost everyone is now looking at ways they can reduce their outgoings – from shopping around in different supermarkets to switching energy provider. Making a much bigger change and moving to a new build house could potentially reduce bills by up to £220 a month, based on HBF research.

"January and February generally the coldest months of the year, leading people to start thinking about how much energy and money they're spending keeping warm. Due to our build programme we currently only have one home on release at Avalon and would encourage potential purchasers to get in touch without delay to avoid disappointment."

The home currently on release at Avalon is a four-bedroom detached Bunbury style property available, priced from £390,000.

The Bunbury is a substantial double-fronted home, offering 1,298 sq ft of carefully considered living space.

The lounge spans from the front to the rear of the property. A window to the front, two at the side and French doors opening out on to the garden offer lots of natural light, emphasising the spaciousness of the room.

On the other side of the hallway is the combined kitchen, dining and family room. Destined to be the heart of the home and a throng of activity, this room also benefits from direct access to the garden via French doors.

A cloakroom completes the ground floor.

Upstairs, the main bedroom benefits an en-suite, leaving the family bathroom to serve the other three bedrooms.

The new homes at Avalon are being built to a high specification with highly efficient heating systems and modern integrated appliances included, which should help reduce energy bills.

Research by the HBF suggests those who move from an older house to a new build home could save up to £2,600 a year on energy bills*.

Changes to Stamp Duty mean that the Bunbury is currently tax-free for first time buyers. Those who have previously owned a property will pay a reduced Stamp Duty fee of £7,000 representing a saving of £2,500.
