Wick, Masqueraders and King William shine as carnival season ends in Glastonbury

By Laura Linham   16th Nov 2025

Carnival season drew to a close in Glastonbury on Saturday night, with Wick, Masqueraders and King William Carnival Clubs all taking home top local honours as Somerset's illuminated procession series reached its finale.

While Ramblers and Huckyduck once again dominated the countywide titles, winning all seven carnivals and sharing the overall County Cup, the spotlight in Glastonbury was firmly on the hometown clubs.

Masqueraders CC claimed a standout victory in the local feature class with Inventors (Tick, Tick, Boom!), finishing ahead of Globe CC and Jesters Haunt. Mendip Vale CC took third with Starlight, while Wick CC impressed with Circus Town to seal a strong fourth-place finish.

King William CC rounded off the night by taking the local tableaux title with Welcome to the Black Parade, securing one of their best results of the season.

In the main classes, Ramblers CC topped open feature once again with 1912 – All Out, followed by Renegades CC with Emerald City, and Gremlins CC with Morning of the Dragon. Harlequin CC placed fourth with Ice Harvest.

Huckyduck CC completed their clean sweep in open tableaux, winning with Scarecrow Partea. Pentathlon CC were runners-up with Carnival of Shadows, while Wills CC took third with HMS Titanic and Flamenco Fiesta placed fourth.

Newmarket CC closed out their unbeaten run in comic feature with Ghost Chickens, and Rubalo JCC continued their strong year by winning best juvenile feature with The Spirit of Christmas.

The carts now return to their yards, but for Wick, Masqueraders and King William, Glastonbury delivered a well-earned moment in the spotlight.
