With Glastonbury gearing up for its big illuminated send-off, all eyes are on the forecast — and the good news is that the weather is looking far more carnival-friendly than many feared.

Crowds heading into town for the final stop on the Somerset Carnival circuit can expect a dry evening, mild temperatures and only a light breeze. Forecasters say Glastonbury is likely to sit under largely clear skies on carnival night, giving spectators a decent chance of staying comfortable from the first cart to the last.

Daytime conditions on Saturday are expected to be settled, with temperatures hovering around the low teens and only patchy cloud cover. By the time the procession begins, it should feel cool but not cold, with no sign of the heavy rain that swept through parts of the county earlier in the week.

Wind speeds are forecast to stay low, which will come as a relief to cart teams who rely on calm conditions to manage costumes, effects and props during the illuminated parade.

As ever, anyone heading into Glastonbury is being advised to dress warmly, plan ahead for road closures and give themselves extra time to get into position. Early crowds are expected around Bere Lane, Northload Street and along the High Street as thousands turn out for one of the biggest nights in the town's calendar.

We'll update if the forecast shifts, but for now, Glastonbury Carnival looks set for a dry, settled and crowd-friendly evening — perfect for the last blast of Somerset's legendary illuminated season.

If you're heading into town, keep an eye on Glastonbury Nub News for everything you need to know for the carnival.
