What’s On in and around Glastonbury: from belly dance to Guardians of the Galaxy

As we step into the first weekend of June, Glastonbury is all set to enthrall locals and tourists with a varied range of activities and events.
First up, the much-anticipated GlastoBelly 2023 is happening on the 3rd and 4th of June at the Red Brick Building. This belly dance festival promises a captivating display of performances across both days. To grab your tickets or check the timetable, visit the event's dedicated links for Saturday and Sunday.
On the evening of the 3rd, gear up for a soulful concert titled 'Songs of Before and Beyond' at the enchanting Glastonbury Chalice Well Gardens from 7 PM to 10 PM. This concert offers a unique blend of soul-infused flutes, feral-edged drums, and songs that honour the ancient spirit of the land, providing an immersive musical experience. Another musical spectacle awaits at The King Arthur pub on Sunday, the 4th of June. The award-winning, contemporary folk duo, Saije, will be showcasing their soulful harmonies and dynamic guitar-lines as part of their debut UK tour from 8 PM onwards. Earlier that day, join Matt Witt of To The Trees for a peaceful tree walk at Glastonbury Abbey, starting at 11 AM. Matt will guide you through the abbey's diverse collection of trees and punctuate the journey with recitals of seasonal poetry. Tickets for the walk also include admission to Glastonbury Abbey for the day.
Meanwhile, the Village Meeple Board Games Session is being organised at Becket's Inn on High Street from 3 PM on Sunday. This is a free event aimed at bringing together the LGBTQ+ community for an afternoon of socialising and board games.
For families looking for an outdoor adventure, there's a pond dipping event at the RSPB Ham Wall on Saturday from 11 AM to 1:45 PM. This activity is designed to unravel the amazing creatures inhabiting the pond habitat, and is suitable for children aged between 5-12 years.
On Sunday, the Great Baltonsborough Village Hall Car Boot Sale is taking place from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Baltonsborough Village Hall. With free entry for buyers and £5 per pitch for sellers, this event offers a chance to uncover unique treasures.
In sync with the full strawberry/rose moon, RSPB Ham Wall is hosting a women's-only walk at dusk around the reserve on Sunday from 7:30 PM to 10 PM. This event aims to provide a comfortable space for women to enjoy the reserve during the evening. The tickets can be booked in advance.
A little further down the road, the Bath and West Showground as the Royal Bath and West Show gets underway this half-term. Running between 1–3 June 2023, visitors of all ages can look forward to some exciting new attractions alongside old favourites. This year, the Imps Motorcycle Display Team will be the main attraction, showcasing heart-stopping motorcycle stunts twice daily. Animal lovers can watch daily displays from Pawsability Dog Agility, the Pony Club Games finals, and a grand parade of vintage vehicles.
