Wells Festival of Running returns this May with races for all
By Laura Linham 13th Feb 2026
Wells Festival of Running is back this spring with a full day of races for all ages and abilities — including fun runs, a fast 10k and a returning corporate challenge.
The event takes place on Sunday, 24 May, and is organised by Wells City Harriers and Wells Rotary. It will feature toddler and under‑8s races on Cathedral Green, plus 1.2k, 5k and 10k distances starting near the Bishop's Palace moat.
To help newer runners prepare, coach Sharon Bowles is running an eight-week Couch to 5k course starting Wednesday, 1 April. Sessions will take place weekly and are aimed at beginners and returning runners. Places are limited and registration is via the Wells City Harriers website.
The 10k race will once again include pacers to help runners hit their target times — whether chasing a PB or running steady. And the 5k race sees the return of the Corporate Prize, awarded to the organisation with the most finishers. Past winners include Tesco and Wells Leisure Centre.
Stalls will line the Market Place and moat path for spectators, adding to the festival feel of one of the city's biggest sporting events of the year.
