A woman remains in custody and a man has been released under investigation after police were called to two separate reports of fighting in Glastonbury on Tuesday evening (1 July).

Officers were first called at 6.05pm to reports of a disturbance on the High Street. A woman in her thirties was arrested on suspicion of assault and later further arrested for affray and being drunk and disorderly. She remained in police custody on Wednesday morning (2 July).

Police were called back just after 7pm following a separate report of two people fighting in the road, among the traffic. A man was arrested at 7.10pm on suspicion of possessing a class A drug. He has since been released under investigation while the substance is examined.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents or has dashcam or other footage is asked to call 101 and quote reference 5225184288.

PCSO Supervisor Jason Wyatt said the Glastonbury neighbourhood team continues to work closely with the council's CCTV operators and partner agencies to tackle both crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the town.

"We do need people to keep reporting incidents to us. We will of course deal with criminal offences robustly," he said.

"However with ASB we have to follow a set of steps from warnings, through notices to court orders. Calls reporting incidents and describing those involved can form part of the evidence we need both to seek such orders and to enforce any breaches."

He added that breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order is a criminal offence and could lead to arrest and a prison sentence. Police also said they continue to refer any vulnerable individuals they encounter to support services.
