A tractor driver from Compton Dundon has been banned from the roads after being caught more than double the drink drive limit.

James Hill, 34, was stopped by police while driving a tractor along Stonehill Road in Street on 22 February.

Yeovil Magistrates' Court heard Hill, of Ham Lane, blew 88 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath — the legal limit is 35.

Hill admitted drink driving and was banned from getting behind the wheel for 20 months.

He was also fined £450 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £180 victim surcharge.

As well as losing his licence, Hill will have to pay for a drink driving rehabilitation course if he wants to get back on the road sooner.
