Glastonbury caravan numbers fall to 145
By Laura Linham 24th Aug 2026
The number of caravans recorded in Glastonbury fell by six during July, according to the latest update from Councillor Ewan Cameron.
The town had 145 caravans recorded as of 29 July 2026, down from 151 the previous month.
According to the report, two caravans were moved out of Glastonbury by their owners during July, while a further four were disposed of after being classed as abandoned.
The latest total continues a long-running count of caravans across Glastonbury which has been monitored since 2019.
Figures published alongside the update show that caravan numbers have varied considerably during that period, rising above 170 at their peak before falling back and then fluctuating around the 120 to 150 mark for much of recent years.
Councillor Cameron's report also included a location-by-location headcount across the town, recording different types of caravans and vehicles at sites around Glastonbury.
Residents are being encouraged to report abandoned caravans and vehicles directly to Somerset Council through its abandoned vehicle reporting service.
Unauthorised encampments can also be reported separately through Somerset Council's unauthorised encampment service.
The report recommends that residents use What3Words when providing exact locations, where possible, to help identify where an abandoned vehicle or caravan is located.
Separate figures in the update show that Somerset Council has removed and disposed of 117 caravans and vehicles in Glastonbury since March 2021.
The latest caravan headcount stood at 145 on 29 July, following the removal of six from the previous month's total.
