Clarks Village in Street has appointed Mike Jones as its new centre director as the outlet prepares for its next phase of growth. The Somerset shopping destination announced the appointment, which marks a return to the county for Mr Jones.

His retail career began in Somerset as a manager for Littlewoods in Yeovil. He now takes charge at one of Street's best-known visitor destinations, overseeing performance, customer experience and the future development of the outlet.

Mr Jones said: "Clarks Village is a truly unique retail location. It has successfully preserved its beautiful rural setting and landscaped gardens, offering a relaxed outdoor experience you simply don't find elsewhere."

He added: "My focus will be to showcase this distinctive offering to new audiences while ensuring guest experience remains at the heart of everything we do." The appointment puts him at the head of a site that remains closely tied to Street's identity and its retail history.

Mr Jones brings decades of retail experience to the role, having worked in senior positions across the UK, India, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Germany. His career has included helping to launch the M&S brand across the Middle East and serving as general manager of Drake Circus shopping centre in Plymouth.

He has also held leadership roles with Xander Group in India and senior global positions with Adidas in Germany and New York. Clarks Village said he will now lead the team in Street as the outlet focuses on performance and guest experience.

Clarks Village opened in 1993 and became the UK's first retail outlet. Today, it is home to more than 90 brands, with fashion, beauty, homeware and lifestyle shops alongside restaurants.

For Street, the centre remains a major draw for shoppers and visitors, bringing regular footfall into the town. Mr Jones' appointment comes as the outlet looks to build on its position as one of Somerset's best-known retail destinations.
