A new monthly Chatty Café event will launch in Street on 28 February, offering a friendly space for locals to meet, talk and enjoy the company of a visiting dog.
The initiative is part of the nationwide Chatty Café Scheme and is being supported locally by PUP — Positively Understanding Pooches — a Somerset‑based group that works with dog owners and professionals.
Each session will include a "Chatter & Natter" table where anyone can stop for a drink and a chat. A dog from the PUP network will be present to greet guests and provide relaxed, four‑legged companionship.
Organisers say the events are open to everyone, regardless of age or background, and are designed to be inclusive and welcoming — whether you're after a conversation, some dog cuddles, or simply a change of scene.
The Chatty Café Scheme aims to reduce loneliness by creating spaces for informal social connection. It works with venues across the UK to host regular meet‑ups, often supported by volunteers or partner organisations.
Street's monthly meet‑ups will feature a visiting dog at each session, provided by PUP. The first event takes place at 10am on 28 February at The Fondo Lounge.
