Plans have been submitted to install a WeBuyAnyCar.com sales pod at the Morrisons supermarket on Street Road in Glastonbury.
The application, lodged by Whittam Cox Architects on behalf of Wm Morrison Supermarkets Ltd, seeks full planning permission to site a prefabricated modular unit within the existing car park. It was submitted on Tuesday, 13 November 2025.
According to the design statement, the pod would replace two standard bays near the store entrance and operate as a vehicle drop-off and inspection point. No cars would be sold from the site, and sold vehicles would be collected within 72 hours, usually sooner.
The single-storey pod would be solar-powered and heated with HVO fuel. A maximum of 10 vehicles would be kept on site at any one time, with professional drivers removing cars daily for off-site auction.
Planners say the proposal will have minimal impact on parking and traffic, and lies in Flood Zone 1 with low flood risk. A linked application has also been made for signage consent.
Somerset Council has registered the applications under references 2026/0024/FUL and 2026/0025/ADV.
