Violent Crime saw a significant reduction, dropping from 37 incidents in March to 17 in April. This category includes offences like assault and battery, which are typically characterized by the use or threat of physical force.

Shoplifting remains the most common offence, albeit slightly increasing from 14 reports in March to 19 in April. This category accounts for thefts occurring in retail settings during business hours.

Anti-social Behaviour, which includes activities that harm or lack consideration for the wellbeing of others, such as vandalism and public disturbance, decreased significantly, from 17 occurrences to 7.

Criminal Damage and Arson, involving property damage and deliberately set fires, increased marginally from 8 incidents in March to 11 in April.

Public Order offences, which cover acts that disrupt the peace in a public area, held steady with 7 cases reported in both months.

Burglary incidents saw an increase, rising from 2 in March to 6 in April. This category includes offences where property is stolen from a residence, office, or other premises, often involving forced entry.

Other Theft, not involving shoplifting or vehicle crime, slightly increased from 4 cases in March to 5 in April.

Vehicle Crime, which involves theft of or from vehicles or interference with a vehicle, decreased from 2 reports in March to just 1 in April.

Drugs-related crimes were recorded in March with 1 incident but were not reported in April.

Other Crimes, a category that includes various less common crimes, decreased from 5 incidents in March to 3 in April.

A policespokesperson said: "We are encouraged by the overall reduction in crime rates this month, particularly the significant decrease in violent crimes.

"Our targeted initiatives and community engagement efforts are proving effective. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all our residents."
