Street pupils celebrate GCSE success at Crispin School
By Laura Linham 20th Aug 2026
Students at Crispin School in Street are celebrating their GCSE and vocational qualification results today, with the school reporting improvements across a broad range of subjects.
Headteacher Lee Cornwall said the results showed the progress made during the past academic year, with the majority of subjects improving their average outcomes compared with 2025.
Some of the biggest gains came in Digital IT, where average outcomes rose by more than a full grade compared with last year. Drama also recorded what the school described as significant progress, while average History outcomes improved by 0.8 of a grade.
Combined Science saw its average outcome increase by 0.38 of a grade, with the school also reporting particularly strong performance in Biology.
There was further progress in English and Maths, with the proportion of students achieving at least a grade 4 in both subjects rising by five percentage points.
Crispin also highlighted improvements among students with special educational needs and disabilities, whose average performance increased by 0.85 of a grade. Outcomes for disadvantaged students rose by an average of 0.28 of a grade.
Mr Cornwall said: "Today's results provide an important indication of the strides we have taken as a school over the last academic year.
"We are particularly proud of the progress made across such a broad range of the curriculum, with the majority of subjects improving their average outcomes compared with last year."
He said there was still more work to do, but added that the results gave the school confidence in its current direction and would help shape its next steps.
He added: "Most importantly, today is about our students. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, determination and resilience they have shown."
There were also some eye-catching individual performances among this year's Year 11 cohort.
Bryony M achieved seven grade 9s, two grade 8s and a Level 2 Distinction*, while Dylan H secured six grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7.
Martha achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, a grade 7 and a Level 2 Distinction*, while Olivia received four grade 9s, four grade 8s and two grade 7s.
There were further strong results for Thomas, with three grade 9s and four grade 8s, and Maddie, who achieved two grade 9s and six grade 8s.
Deputy headteacher Luke Bullock said those results were exceptional, but stressed that the day was about more than the very highest grades.
He said: "Across the cohort there are students celebrating results which reflect enormous individual progress, perseverance and hard work.
"For some, a grade 4 represents every bit as significant an achievement as a grade 9 does for another."
For this year's Year 11 pupils, the envelopes may now be open, but the next chapter is only just starting, with students moving on to sixth form, college, apprenticeships and other routes.
Mr Bullock added: "It has been a privilege to see this year group reach this point and we are enormously proud of them. We look forward to seeing what they go on to achieve next."
