Street Parish Council has announced the closure of the public toilets at Southside Car Park due to significant maintenance issues.

The toilets were originally scheduled to close on April 1st, 2024, after Somerset Council informed the Parish Council that they could no longer maintain the facility. Street Parish Council had stepped in to manage the toilets in the interim, but recent inspections revealed urgent maintenance problems that necessitated the earlier closure.

A spokesperson for Street Parish Council expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured the community that the future of the toilets would be discussed at the next Full Council Meeting on December 17th, 2024.

The Parish Council will keep the public updated on any developments.

Local residents have expressed concern about the closure, particularly for visitors to the town. However, the Parish Council is working to find a solution that will ensure public toilet facilities remain available in the area.
