A Street man has been locked up for more than two years after helping a pair of burglars hide stolen loot and escape police.

Andrew Sharman, 44, was jailed for 26 months on 5 June 2025 after admitting his part in a massive crime spree that saw over 30 burglaries carried out across Somerset and Devon in just three months.

Police say Sharman gave the thieves a place to stash goods at his Street address, let them use a hire car in several raids — and even picked one of them up after he crashed it trying to flee a job.

Officers raided homes in Street, Bridgwater and Somerton on 15 November 2024, seizing hundreds of stolen items including antiques, jewellery, power tools and garden kit.

The main culprits, Joshua Heal, 25, of Bridgwater and Ethan Sharman, 21, of Somerton, were jailed on 31 October 2025 for nine years three months and six years eight months after pleading guilty to conspiracy to burgle.

PC Mark Owen said: "Burglary is an invasive crime that causes lasting harm. Thanks to a detailed investigation, we've returned items to victims and put those responsible behind bars."

Police urge residents to photograph valuables to help prove ownership if stolen.
