Street Food Bank has issued an urgent plea for donations as their stock levels run critically low due to a surge in demand. The food bank, based at The Salvation Army on Goswell Road, is calling on the local community to help refill its shelves and provide essential supplies to those in need.

A spokesperson for the food bank said: "Demand has been incredibly high recently, and we're struggling to keep up. Any donations, big or small, will make a huge difference to local families."

The food bank is particularly short of the following items:

  • Tinned potatoes/instant mashed potato
  • Tinned peas, carrots, sweetcorn, tomatoes, and baked beans
  • Tinned meat, chickpeas, kidney beans, and tuna
  • Tinned soup, fruit, custard, and rice pudding
  • Breakfast cereal, biscuits, and crisps
  • Tea bags (packs of 80), instant coffee, and UHT milk
  • Shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste
  • Pasta, rice, instant noodles, and jars of cooking sauces
  • Strong shopping bags

Donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 9:30am to 1pm at Goswell Road, Street, BA16 0GJ. Alternatively, you can contact the food bank to arrange a convenient drop-off time.

The food bank has thanked the Street community for its continued support, saying: "Every donation helps us keep our shelves stocked and ensures we can provide much-needed help to those struggling in our area."

If you can help, please consider donating to the Street Food Bank and making a real difference to your local community.
