Street climate film night aims to spark local action
By Laura Linham 23rd Apr 2026
A free film screening in Street is aiming to turn concern into local action.
Residents are being invited to the Victoria Club on Leigh Road at 5 pm on Saturday, 9 May for a screening of People's Emergency Briefing, with the event focusing on issues including local flooding, air pollution, the cost of living and food prices.
The message on the event poster is simple: "Just turn up."
Organisers say the hope is that the event could help create a Street Sustainable Network, giving local people a chance to come together and explore ways to mitigate the effects of climate change in the town.
That gives the event a wider aim than a one-off screening. As well as showing the film, it is being pitched as a starting point for local discussion about practical responses to challenges already affecting daily life.
The poster highlights flooding, air pollution, household costs and food prices as the concerns at the heart of the evening, linking big national debates to issues people in Street may already be feeling locally.
The screening will take place at the Victoria Club, Leigh Road, and entry is free.
For residents interested in climate action, community resilience or simply finding out more, the invitation from organisers is clear: turn up, watch the film and join the conversation.
