Students at Millfield are celebrating a strong set of GCSE and BTEC results today, with pupils from Street, Glastonbury and across Somerset among those posting standout grades.

The school said 51% of grades achieved by its top 100 students were at grades 9-8, with a 100% pass rate, while 49% of all BTEC results were graded D-D*.

Among the local successes was Kaden F, a day student from Street, who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7, an A in Additional Maths and an A* in the PQ Bacc.

Kaden joined Millfield in Year 7 and has combined his studies with competitive swimming, regularly representing the school and competing at national-level events including the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships and Swim England competitions.

Also celebrating was Livi S, a day student from Glastonbury, who achieved five grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s.

Livi joined Millfield Prep in Year 6 and is a key member of the school's equestrian programme. Last year she was selected to ride for England teams at the Southview Home Pony International and has since qualified for the Horse of the Year Show at Birmingham's NEC in October after winning the STX Pony Foxhunter class at Welsh Home Ponies.

The school's highest individual performer this year was Charlie M, a day student from Butleigh, who achieved eight grade 9s, an A in Additional Maths and an A* in the PQ Bacc.

Charlie joined Millfield in Year 9 and was recognised for Academic Commitment at this year's prize-giving. He is one of four brothers to attend the school, with his brother Matthew having been Millfield's top A-level achiever last year with four A*s.

Charlie will now continue into Millfield's Sixth Form, where he plans to study Maths, Psychology and Economics alongside an EPQ.

A number of other pupils also recorded eight grade 9s, including Shakti P, Rebecca Z, Luke B, Thomas S and Adrien L.

Their achievements stretched well beyond the classroom, with pupils also representing the school in hockey, tennis, cricket, swimming, music, drama and other co-curricular activities.

Millfield also highlighted the performance of students on its 11@Millfield Programme, a one-year course designed for ambitious 15 and 16-year-olds preparing for Sixth Form. Jakob W, David X, Kuzey A and Sylvia W were named as the programme's top achievers this year.

Headmaster Gavin Horgan said: "Today's results are a testament to all our pupils' hard work and commitment, as well as the quality of academic teaching at Millfield. There are so many multi-talented pupils amongst the names listed in our top achievers; not only have they done well academically, but they have also excelled in music, drama, sport and co-curricular activities as well, which is what Millfield is all about."
