What's On: Feel‑good singing and tractor art roll into Glastonbury and Street this week

If you thought weekends were just for crowds and chaos, Glastonbury and Street are here to gently prove you wrong. From singalongs that welcome everyone, to handmade tractor art, science antics and town markets, there's a wholesome kind of fun brewing.
What's On in Street and Glastonbury is brought to you by The Loft - your local spot for great food, live music and late nights.

Thursday 28 August kicks off with a hands-on approach. Over at The Bishop's Palace and Gardens in Wells, it's Summer Holidays Family Crafting from 11 am to 3 pm. This week's session includes stained-glass art—minus the glass and danger. It's included with admission, and there's also the ongoing Summer Holidays Family Trail, which runs daily until 1 September. Palace Passport stamps for the kids, five minutes' peace for you.
Meanwhile, the Shepton Mallet Men's Shed is open from 9 am to 4 pm on Thursday for anyone wanting to tinker, chat or just make a decent brew.
Friday 29 August sees Glastonbury Pagan Moot – Déjà Whitehouse Talk take over The Beckets Inn from 8 pm, with a presentation exploring Frieda Harris, Aleister Crowley and The Book of Thoth. Donations welcome, curiosity required.

Saturday 30 August is not messing about. Truckfest South West 2025 rolls into the Bath & West Showground from 9 am with big wheels, bigger egos and some truly impressive paint jobs. Advance tickets are cheaper, and under‐5s get in free.
In Glastonbury, the all-day Glastonbury Monthly Town-Wide Market returns to the High Street, while The King Arthur hosts MVL Summer '25, an indoor-outdoor DJ fest starting from 3 pm. It's free before 4 pm and £3 after, with under-18s out the door by 9 pm.
Sunday 31 August is going full Somerset. Truckfest continues for a second day, while Radstock Town Football Club hosts The Big Family Kickabout Funday + Fundraiser from 12 noon to 4 pm. Bring your best ball skills and a few coins for the collection bucket.
Prefer your weekend a little more floral? Head to Board Cross House in Shepton for a Summer Garden Party from 2.30 pm to 5 pm. Entry's a fiver, and there's optional donations for tea and cake.
And over in Collett Park, Shepton's trading quiet strolls for high-flying antics with Circus Day from 11 am. Expect juggling, tightrope walking and workshops galore—all completely free. Once you've dropped a few juggling balls and found your balance, stick around for the grand finale: a live circus show packed with gasps, laughs and a little bit of magic. For kids, grown-ups and anyone still secretly dreaming of running away with the circus.

On Monday 1 September, it's back to business (sort of) with the Royal Air Forces Association Mid-Somerset Branch Meeting at Wells Golf Club at 11 am. Attendance is free, and there's optional lunch and drinks afterwards.
Wells also hosts a new Postnatal Pilates Class at 11 am at the Deeper Balance Studio. First-timers get 50% off—so that's £6 to feel like you've got your core back.
Tuesday 2 September delivers cabaret and culture. Lavender Vespers LGBTQ+ Cabaret takes over The King Arthur in Glastonbury, with doors at 7 pm and showtime from 8 pm to 10.30 pm. Expect drama, drag and probably a feather boa or two.
Meanwhile, Midsomer Norton welcomes history buffs with a talk on how the steam railway built Victorian Britain at the Somer Centre from 7.30 pm. £5 on the door, and you might finally understand Brunel.
Wednesday 3 September rounds things off with a dose of culture and choir. The Bishop's Palace in Wells hosts an outdoor performance of The Pantaloons: Hamlet in the evening, blending Shakespeare with silliness. Over at Seager Hall, Alive and Singing kicks off at 10 am (£10 drop-in), followed by Singing for the Brain at 11.15 am (£5 including refreshments).
Whether your happy place is the main ring, the craft tent or a tightrope in the park, Shepton Mallet and its neighbours are making sure summer bows out with flair.
