What's On in Street and Glastonbury is brought to you by The Loft - your local spot for great food, live music and late nights.

Glastonbury and Street have a quieter weekend planned, but there's art, wellbeing, music and wider Somerset events all within easy reach.

Harry Brockway's exhibition continues at Somerset Rural Life Museum, the Avalon Wellness Community meetup is listed for Thursday, and Somerstock gets underway nearby, so there are a few good reasons to check the diary before accidentally doing nothing.

Things begin on Thursday, 9 July, with the Secret Supper Club at The Bishop's Palace in Wells. The evening offers a three-course meal for £40 per person, with booking essential and a £5 non-refundable deposit per person required. Guests are given a password to access the evening over the medieval drawbridge, because apparently dinner can come with mild espionage now.

Also on Thursday, 9 July, the Haydn Youth String Orchestra performs a free concert at St Mary Magdalene Church in Wookey Hole at 7pm as part of WOWFest: Wells Orchestral Weekend. The programme includes works by Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Mendelssohn, Elgar, Bach, Handel, Bloch and Shostakovich, so nobody is turning up just to gently saw away at "Twinkle, twinkle".

In Glastonbury, Harry Brockway: Ways with Wood Exhibition continues at Somerset Rural Life Museum. The exhibition celebrates the life and work of Glastonbury-based artist Harry Brockway, with wood engravings, woodcuts and wooden sculpture on display. It runs until Wednesday, 2 September, with normal museum admission applying.

On Friday, 10 July, WOWFest Opening Ceremony 2026 takes place at Cedars Hall in Wells. The festival brings young musicians from the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, the USA and Brazil to the city for concerts and workshops at venues across Wells and nearby Wookey Hole.

Also on Friday, 10 July, Priddy Folk Festival 2026 begins in Priddy, bringing music, dance, stalls, camping and community events to the village. Visitors are advised to check ticket, parking and travel details before setting off, because the Mendips do enjoy making a simple journey feel like an expedition.

Over in Street, the Avalon Wellness Community meetup takes place at Crispin Community Centre on Friday, 10 July. The session runs from 10am to noon and is aimed at people working in health and wellbeing, with places limited.

Somerstock also begins on Friday, 10 July, at Somerton Sports and Recreation Ground, continuing on Saturday, 11 July. The two-day music festival includes live music, family entertainment, food, stalls, parking and camping, so this may be one for people willing to venture a little further than the end of the High Street.

On Saturday, 11 July, Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth - WOWFest 2026 takes place at St Cuthbert's Church in Wells at 2pm. It is one of several concerts taking place as part of Wells Orchestral Weekend, which is bringing young musicians into the city across several venues.

Also on Saturday, 11 July, Carmina Burana - WOWFest 2026 comes to Wells Cathedral at 7pm, with the WOWFest Community Chorus and Bristol Classical Players performing alongside young musicians and soloists. Tickets must be reserved in advance.

In Shepton Mallet, the Shepton Mallet Repair Cafe takes place on Saturday, 11 July, at The Art Bank on High Street. Repairers will be ready to look at electrical, electronic, audio-visual, mechanical, clothing, bag, leather, canvas, wooden and jewellery repairs. It is probably worth checking before arriving with a lawnmower, a lamp and unresolved emotional attachment to a toaster.

The Butterfly Identification Workshop at Heal Somerset also takes place on Saturday, 11 July, at Heal Somerset, BA11 5HH. The workshop with Nick Patel will introduce people to butterfly species likely to be seen at this time of year, with visitors advised to check booking details, timings and access information before travelling.

On Sunday, 12 July, the Concert by outstanding young pianists from the Leon Fleisher Academy - WOWFest2026 takes place at St Thomas' Church in Wells at 2pm as part of WOWFest 2026. The concert features young pianists from the Leon Fleisher Academy in New York, with free admission and a retiring collection.

Also on Sunday, 12 July, Priddy Folk Festival 2026 continues in Priddy, while WOWFest: Wells Orchestral Weekend continues across Wells with concerts, workshops and performances from young musicians.

At the Bath & West Showground, the Giant Flea Market takes place on Sunday, 12 July. The event is listed with more than 250 indoor and outdoor stalls, including retro furniture, vintage clothing, books, toys, jewellery, fabrics, garden items and more. In other words, a very real danger of going in for one thing and coming out with a chair, three books and no clear explanation.

Throughout the week, several regular and continuing events are also running. Connect Play Create for Under 5s continues at Make the Sunshine Studio in Shepton Mallet, offering creative movement sessions for babies, toddlers and pre-school children with parents and carers.

Sunshine Sisters Dance and LUMEN Dance Collective both continue at Make the Sunshine Studio. Sunshine Sisters is for adults, while LUMEN offers weekly term-time dance sessions for young people. Make the Sunshine is doing a fair amount of heavy lifting for the local diary, and frankly, respect.

At Rock Farm in Shepton Mallet, Soulfired Lates continues until Friday, 31 July, offering evening sauna sessions at Windsor Hill Lane. Sessions cost £12.50, or £9 for members, with private hire also available.

Shepton Mallet Men's Shed also continues at Unit 8, Charlton Trading Estate, with sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am to noon, and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm. The group offers companionship, practical activities and a chance to learn and share skills.

In Wells, Pop Rock Pub Contemporary Choir continues at Wells Methodist Church, while PRP Gospel Choir at Wells Methodist Church continues as a monthly session on the first Friday of each month. Both are non-auditioned singing groups, so enthusiasm remains very much allowed.

The South West Craft Fair is listed at Wells Town Hall, although the submitted date range appears unusually long, so visitors should check the event page before travelling. The same applies to Mythical Creatures, which is listed as a family event but was submitted without clear details in the information provided.
