Street and Glastonbury offer diverse Easter events: from classical music and drum and bass nights to bunny trails, repair cafes, and village feasts.

What's On in Street and Glastonbury is brought to you by our sponsors Strode College, The Sleek Easy Clean, Glastonbury Abbey, Studio24 in Wells and Melhuish and Saunders.

From drum and bass nights to bunny trails and classical music in the pub, Street and Glastonbury are throwing everything at Easter weekend — and then some.

Whether you fancy fixing a toaster in a church, sipping wine in Pilton while listening to Haydn, or bunny-hopping your way around a garden trail, there's plenty going on (and usually with cake).

FRIDAY 18 APRIL

Fancy a bit of classical music with your pint? Pilton's village pub is hosting a Good Friday performance of Haydn's The Seven Last Words of the Cross by the Breathe Ensemble, featuring Royal Ballet concertmaster Magnus Johnston. It's reflective, moving, and happening in the same room someone probably watched the Grand National in last weekend. Full details here

From the sacred to the sweaty — Street's going loud. Resident DJ Jamie Mac is on deck spinning drum and bass all night at the Street Inn (or at least until 11pm — there's a strict no-entry-after-that rule). Entry is free, the vibe is heavy, and you might want earplugs. More info here

SATURDAY 19 APRIL

Broken toaster? Dodgy jeans? Mysterious gadget that used to do something useful? Bring it to the Glastonbury Repair Café and let someone local fix it while you eat cake and try not to spill tea on a power tool. It's free (donations welcome) and good for the soul and the planet. All the details

Fundraiser meets feast meets live Americana in Croscombe, all in a village hall with proper Somerset character. Expect pulled pork, BBQ ribs, and music with a twang from five-piece Hello Hopeville. Raffle tickets are £5 a strip — prizes may include actual wine. Book it here

Cute animals? Tick. Bonnet parade? Tick. Free egg hunt? Tick. Shepton's Collett Park's going full Easter mode for families this Saturday. Bring your own bonnet if you want a prize, and expect Shepton at its most wholesome. Get involved here.

SUNDAY 20 APRIL

This is not your average car boot. With over 250 stalls inside and out, the Giant Flea Market in Shepton Mallet is a full-day affair. You'll find everything from mid-century furniture to vintage vinyl, weird garden statues, clothes, books, and stuff you definitely don't need but will somehow leave with. Dogs welcome, food stalls aplenty, wear comfy shoes. Market info

Wells is doing Easter in style — trails through palace gardens, crafts, and plenty to keep the under-10s distracted while you pretend not to be jealous of their chocolate haul. Running all weekend at the Bishop's Palace.

Expect stilt walkers, pirate golf, circus shows and a big cave full of other families wondering why they didn't just stay in. It's chaotic, but it's peak Wookey Hole and part of the charm.

Wells Cathedral – Easter Day services

  • 8.00am: Holy Communion (BCP)
  • 9.30am: Choral Matins (Cathedral Choir)
  • 11.00am: Festal Eucharist (Cathedral Choir)

MONDAY 21 APRIL (EASTER MONDAY)

Signed up to this before you remembered how long 7.5 miles actually is? Too late. The Shapwick Bunny Hop takes runners through village lanes and Shapwick Heath, all for a good cause. No entries on the day, so if you want in, register before 6pm Friday. Bring your best knees. Sign up here

STILL NOT ENOUGH?

Here's a quick list of Easter extras still happening:

And if you're after church services, Glastonbury's St John's, Wells Cathedral, Shepton's parish church and Street's Holy Trinity are all holding Holy Week and Easter Day services — check individual listings for times.

And if all else fails, just go for a walk, eat a crème egg, and pretend you don't have five loads of washing to do on Tuesday.

Happy Easter, everyone!
