Street school to be covered in colour as community runs in memory of baby Olivia

Brookside Academy in Street is set to be splashed in colour this Saturday — all in memory of a little girl who brought joy to everyone she met.
The school's Colour Run on 21 June promises to be a high-energy celebration with a powerful purpose, raising money for bereavement charity 2Wish in tribute to Olivia, the 15-month-old daughter of staff member Mrs Foster, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in October 2023.
Kicking off at 10.30am, the day will start with DJ Bernie getting the crowd going, before Brookside's own teachers take on the first colour run at 11am. Expect music, refreshments and more than a few surprises along the route. The final run is due to take place at 12.30pm.
Olivia's family say they now try to live by the motto "Be More Like Olivia" — a phrase that has inspired the whole event.
"We will be forever grateful for the time we had with Olivia," said Mrs Foster. "She was such a bundle of fun. We are thankful that she only ever knew fun, love and happiness in her life. We try to find positives, enjoy the time we're given and support others — just like she did."
The fundraiser is being run by Friends of Brookside and is sponsored by local businesses, including Melhuish and Saunders, Concept Products Ltd, Ground Regeneration, AG, Stonehill Tiling and Bathrooms, The Sleek Easy, and Min2Max Retailing.
All money raised goes to 2Wish, which supports families after the sudden death of a child or young adult. It's a cause that's hit close to home for many in the Brookside community.
