A Somerset countryside charity is inviting nominations for its new "Love Your Countryside Awards" to mark 100 years of campaigning for rural protection.
CPRE Somerset, the county branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, is launching the awards to celebrate projects that are making a positive impact on Somerset's countryside. The scheme is part of CPRE's national centenary celebrations and aims to recognise sustainability, innovation, and community involvement.
Anyone can apply or nominate a project before the deadline on Thursday, 30 April 2026. Entries must be based in Somerset (excluding North Somerset and B&NES), and winners will be honoured at a summer awards ceremony.
Projects can be entered in up to five categories:
– Housing solution
– Rooftop solar
– Blue or green spaces
– Countryside access
– Countryside changemaker
All entries must show improvements to the rural environment, sustainable practices, and some level of public visibility. Winners will receive a commemorative plaque and may be nominated for CPRE's national awards.
Hugh Williams, Chair of CPRE Somerset and one of the judges, said: "We hope that our new 'Love Your Countryside Awards' will shine a light on inspiring projects here in Somerset. We are very excited to see what entries come in."
Full details and entry forms are available on the CPRE Somerset website.
