Avon and Somerset Police have issued a safety alert after reports of rural burglaries in and around Street and Glastonbury, urging residents to secure property and report any suspicious activity.

Officers said they are aware of "recent burglaries in the local area" and have stepped up reassurance patrols to help deter further incidents, gather intelligence and maintain a visible police presence.

The force is reminding people to ensure doors, windows and outbuildings are locked when left unattended, and to remain alert to unfamiliar vehicles or individuals. Anyone concerned is urged to report what they have seen via 101 or online police reporting tools.

Police said rural and residential burglaries remain a priority for neighbourhood teams, and investigations into recent offences are ongoing.
