Road Traffic Collision Persons Trapped at Junction of Webbington Road and Kennels Lane

Date: 25.01.2019Time: 13:25Location: Junction of Webbington Road and Kennels LaneThe Fire Service were called to a report of a road traffic collision with two persons trapped within the vehicles. Fire Control mobilised one fire appliance from Cheddar and one fire appliance from Burnham-on-Sea.

En route to this incident the officer in charge requested the attendance of a rescue tender due to the nature of the incident. Fire Control mobilised the rescue tender from Glastonbury.

Once the crew got in attendance the officer in charge confirmed this to be a two vehicle road traffic collision with one casualty trapped in one vehicle and one casualty trapped in the second vehicle.

The crew got to work stabilising the vehicles so that the ambulance service could access the trapped casualties. The crew used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the door from the vehicle so that the casualty could self-rescue from vehicle. The second casualty was able to exit the vehicle with assistance from the ambulance service.

Once both casualties were rescued from the vehicles the crew made the car and the area safe. The care of the two casualties were left in the hands of the ambulance service and the crew returned home station.
