Refurbishment and safety works at the Crown Hotel in Glastonbury are given approval
A planning application for safety and refurbishment works at the Crown Hotel in Glastonbury has been given the go-ahead by Mendip District Council.
The application for internal alterations to the bar, restaurant and guest rooms, including replacement rooflights (part-retrospective) at the Crown Hotel, 4 Market Place, Glastonbury, was submitted by Bruce Ashmore.
This proposal sought Listed Building Consent for various works to the interior of the pub and hotel as part of a scheme to refurbish the premises and comply with fire regulations.
The works include the installation of doors and partitions to the front bar area to enable a protected escape route from the upstairs rooms.
Some of the works have already begun, including the forming of some of the partitions on the ground floor, the relocation of some en suites, and alterations to the ceilings within the restaurant at first floor level, but all of the works have now been given approval.
