Police are asking motorists in Glastonbury to remain alert and cautious following several incidents involving a young woman running in and out of traffic in the town centre.

Concerns have been raised by members of the public in recent weeks, with reports of the woman causing potential danger to herself and others by stepping into the road unexpectedly.

The local neighbourhood policing team has confirmed they are aware of the ongoing situation and are working closely with partner agencies and the woman's family in an effort to keep her safe.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We're aware of ongoing concerns involving a young woman in Glastonbury town centre who has been seen running into traffic. Our neighbourhood team is working closely with partner agencies and her family to offer support and find a long-term solution that ensures her safety.

"We would ask drivers to be extra cautious, particularly around the town centre, and to contact us or the ambulance service if they witness any incidents where this individual may be putting herself or others in danger."
