As the first signs of spring appear and warmer weather beckons, police in Glastonbury have announced a renewed focus on tackling anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) covers various activities that cause harm, distress, or alarm to individuals or the community. This can include anything from vandalism and graffiti to more menacing activities like verbal abuse or public disorder.

This initiative responds to ongoing community concerns about ASB and its impact on the town's atmosphere and safety.

The decision, named as a police priority for the upcoming months, underscores the police's recognition of ASB as an ongoing issue that significantly impacts the quality of life for Glastonbury's residents and visitors alike.

The initiative aims not only to reduce occurrences of ASB but also to foster a safer and more welcoming environment in the heart of the historic town.

A police spokesperson said: "As we move into the spring season and anticipate more people enjoying our beautiful town centre, our focus on mitigating anti-social behaviour has never been more critical.

"We understand the community's concerns and are dedicated to ensuring Glastonbury remains a safe and pleasant place for everyone.

"Our officers will be more visible in the town centre, engaging with the public and taking decisive actions against ASB to protect our community's well-being."

This proactive approach will see an increased police presence in key areas, along with closer collaboration with local businesses and community groups to identify and address factors contributing to ASB.

The police are also encouraging residents and visitors to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour they witness by calling 101, as part of a collective effort to clamp down on disturbances and ensure Glastonbury's town centre is a secure and enjoyable space for all.
