The Street Foodbank, orgainsed at the Salvation Army Hall on Goswell Road, has issued an urgent appeal for donations due to critically low stock levels.

The foodbank, a critical resource for many in the community, has seen a surge in demand that has outstripped its current supply of goods.

To address this immediate need, the Salvation Army has published a list of desired items that includes a wide range of non-perishable food and personal hygiene products. Key items needed are tinned potatoes, instant mashed potato, various tinned vegetables, tinned meats, soups, pasta, rice, instant noodles, breakfast cereals, tinned fruit, custard, rice pudding, instant coffee, tea bags, UHT milk, biscuits, crisps, fruit squash, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, and strong shopping bags.

The Salvation Army hall in Street is open for donations from 9.30am to 1pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with a donation box available outside the door for after-hours contributions.

  • The foodbank works by referrals from local agencies (such as Citizens Advice, Health Visitors, Village Agents, Local Schools etc) to ensure that you are getting all of the help that is available to you. They will usually take one self referral per month if necessary. If you need help, then please contact one of those agencies listed, but you can also reach the team directly on 07511 313 339.
