Year 2 pupils at St John's Infants School in Glastonbury were treated to a special visit from the Glastonbury Male Voice Choir last week.

The visit not only showcased the choir's timeless talent but also offered the children an invaluable lesson in singing and helped to nurture their musical skills and appreciation.

For the Glastonbury Male Voice Choir, it was a poignant venue for the performance—the very hall of St John's Infants School, where their journey began in February 1923.

Marking a full circle, the choir's return to their roots was a nod to their enduring legacy and deep ties to the local community.

Back in 1923, the choir paid half a crown to hire the school hall for their first rehearsal, a modest sum that belied the immense cultural contribution they would go on to make.

Fast forward to the present, and their performance was described as "priceless," for the pupils at the school.

The children of Year 2 were not only audience members but also active participants, as members of the choir took the time to teach them how to sing.

The event underscored the Glastonbury Male Voice Choir's commitment to community engagement and the arts, demonstrating how music can serve as a bridge between past and present, young and old.

For the pupils of St John's Infants, the day was an unforgettable introduction to the joy and discipline of choir singing, delivered by a group whose roots are deeply entwined with their own school's history.
