Avon and Somerset Police have announced that officers will be conducting high-visibility patrols in Glastonbury following a violent incident that left three men injured.

Armed police were called to Beckery Old Road on Sunday after reports of a fight, which occurred shortly before 5.30pm.

Ch Insp Andy Pritchard confirmed that local neighbourhood teams will be out in force in the coming days to provide reassurance to the public. "We wish to reassure the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident," he said. "However, the patrols are being carried out to offer additional reassurance to the community."

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody. The injured men were taken to hospital, with one suffering a potentially serious head injury, while the other two sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The patrols aim to reassure residents as police continue their investigation into the incident.
