Police step up patrols in Street after reports of anti-social behaviour and vehicle nuisance

Police in Street have promised extra patrols around Goss Drive and other hotspots following a spike in reports of anti-social behaviour – including vehicles being used irresponsibly in the area.
The neighbourhood team said they've received complaints about groups of young people causing disruption in and around Goss Drive, as well as concerns about vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner elsewhere in the village.
Officers have pledged to keep a closer eye on these areas in the coming weeks, and locals are being urged to report any incidents at the time – either by calling 101, dialling 999 in an emergency, or using the police website.
"We're aware of recent reports of youths causing anti-social behaviour in and around Goss Drive," a spokesperson said. "We'll be paying more attention to the area during our patrols and would encourage residents to report anything they witness."
The local beat team also confirmed that they're aware of issues involving vehicles being driven recklessly or causing a nuisance around Street.
"Local officers will be patrolling the locations highlighted, working alongside our Roads Policing and Speed Enforcement Teams to tackle this issue," the statement continued. "We'll take positive action on any offences identified, using our anti-social behaviour tools and powers – including Section 59 of The Police Reform Act 2002."
Section 59 allows police to seize vehicles being used in a manner that causes alarm, distress or annoyance – even if no other offence has been committed.
