Plans submitted to increase size of shop at Wirral Park Service Station in Glastonbury

Plans have been submitted to Mendip District Council for an increase in size of the shop at Wirral Park Service Station in Glastonbury.

A planning application for a proposed single-storey extension to the side and rear of the sales building with car wash lane modifications and canopy raised to 5.1 metres at Wirral Park Service Station, Wirral Park Road, Glastonbury, has been made by Motor Fuel Group Ltd.

The plan is to extend the shop to the rear for extra retail space and to the side for a new staff area, with the car wash lane going around these, closer to the boundary of the property.

However, a different planning application at the service station for a non-material amendment to permission 2019/3046/FUL for the creation of a new air/water and vacuum bay, along with two car parking spaces has been refused.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been received this week by Mendip District Council include:

Erection of apex building to cover cattle collection yard on land at Mead Lane, West Pennard, has been applied for by Mr Winston Heal.

Approval of details reserved by conditions 2 (Materials) and 3 (Sample Panel) on planning consent 2017/3039/REM at Eastchurch Cottage, Church Lane, East Lydford, is wanted by Mr Neil Piercy.

Replacement of existing lean-to extension and new porch (amendments to 2020/0615/LBC) at Home Farm, 3 Stileway, Meare, have been applied for by Mr Henry Street.

Works to trees in a Conservation Area T1 Willow - re-pollard to former pruning points, T2 Walnut - holistic canopy reduction by 3.0m to sound pruning points as practicable, T3 Walnut - holistic canopy reduction by 3.0m to sound pruning points as practicable at 3 Magdalene Street, Glastonbury, are wanted by Mr G Eason.

Planning applications in the Glastonbury area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

Conversion of barn to a multi-functional space, consisting of a meeting room, consulting rooms and ancillary facilities at Upper Woodlands Farm, Bradley Way, West Pennard, by Mr and Mrs Crang has been approved.

Approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (materials), 5 (walling), 11 (archaeology) and 12 (drainage) on planning consent 2019/1390/FUL at Church Cottage, Church Walk, Baltonsborough, by Mr Oliver Brown has been given.

Application for a certificate of lawful existing development for dwellinghouse (use class c3) at Lubborn Cottage, Lubborn Lane, Baltonsborough, by Mr and Mrs Wright has been approved.

Erection of a steel framed building with timber cladding on land east of Rubbery Farm, Rubbery Lane, Lydford-on-Fosse, by Mr Mark Attwell has been withdrawn.

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (Sample Panel) and 4 (Surface Water Drainage System) on planning consent 2018/2477/FUL at 12 Bere Lane, Glastonbury, by Mr Nick Curtis has been approved.

Erection of extension to existing industrial warehouse (B2) and retrospective change of use of the closest part of the yard from agricultural to industrial (B2) and the adjoining yard from agricultural to mixed agricultural and industrial use (sui generis) at Sharpham Park, Sharpham Drove, Sharpham, by Mr and Mrs Roger Saul has been approved.
