The funeral for the former Mayor of Glastonbury, Denise Michell, will take place tomorrow (July 8) at St John's Church in the town.

Denise, who was mayor twice, passed away on June 22, and her family have released details of the plans for her funeral procession through Glastonbury.

The funeral cortege will leave from Glastonbury Town Hall at 1.45pm and process up to St John's Church. After the funeral, the cortege will then proceed to the Glastonbury Cemetery.

Due to restrictions as a result of the coronavirus, funeral attendees are by invitation only.

Denise's family intend to hold a celebration of her life in "a year and a day" to mark the laying of her memorial stone and to have a community celebration.

Donations, if desired, can be made payable to Bridging the Gap Food Bank, marked In Memory of Denise, here:

TSB Bank plc

Payee Name: Glastonbury Bridging the Gap

Sort Code: 77-68-58
